Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have experience with large brands?
Yes. I've worked with Fuller Brush — a legacy American brand — plus companies selling across multiple countries and brands running dozens of physical locations. Large organizations come with competing needs: retail against DTC, legacy customers against new ones, several stakeholders with different priorities. I know how to balance them.
How long before we see increased revenue from email?
Your first flows can be live in two weeks, and if your list is healthy you may see a lift as soon as the basics are fixed. If you're building from scratch, or the list is full of freebie seekers, it can take a few weeks to a couple of months. I won't pretend to predict it.
Do you write the emails, or just the strategy?
Both. I build the strategy and write every email myself — the copy is the part that does the persuading, so I don't hand it off. You'll also get my opinionated opinions on design, whether or not you asked for them.
What size brand do you work with?
Seven- and eight-figure brands are my sweet spot: steady, growing revenue and a decent-sized list. That's where email has the most to work with — existing repeat buyers to learn from, and enough subscribers that a change in approach shows up in the numbers.
Why plain-text "anti-design" emails instead of designed ones?
Do you like junk mail, or a letter from a friend? Designed emails look promotional, and readers put their guard up. A plain email still sells — they know it's from a brand — but there's less resistance when it reads like a person. That's also why we send from person@brand, invite replies, and don't stuff in CTAs.
We already send emails and they're not working. What's different about your approach?
Most email marketers are designers first, and treat the copy as a detail. I don't. I use persuasion and direct-response technique so opening your email is worth it even when they're not buying. Surprise, delight, a laugh. For one holiday brand, that averages a 34% open rate and 6.5% click-through.
What does it cost to work with you?
Projects start at $997 per flow — five or six emails, like a welcome flow or a win-back flow. Past that it depends on scope, so the honest answer is that it varies. Apply, tell me what you're selling and what you've already tried, and I'll tell you what it would take.
