Gated content is dead

...or so they say.

Over the last few days, I've been teasing an offer, with the promised result of "a growing list of future buyers, primed to buy the moment they need your product - and reachable for free whenever you want to drive sales."

A number of readers expressed interest. When I explained the process, one reader replied:

"I think that gated content is dead."

Riddle me this then -

If gated content is dead, then .... why does MY email list keep growing even with my pretty-weak, needs-to-be-changed lead magnet?

Why does every big name marketer out there have multiple lead magnets with which they grow their email lists?

So no, gated content is very much not dead. However - I do understand this reader.

He may be thinking of the old "Five ways to grow your email list", or some other generic piece of content your reader can easily discover with a ChatGPT prompt.

Those are really not so effective anymore.

You know what is effective, though? A lead magnet promising a complete solution to one very specific problem your target audience experiences.

Some great examples I've seen recently:

Imagine if YOU had something like this.

A super valuable resource that will be irresistible to anyone in your target audience.

Something that will make them throw their email address at you within 3 seconds of seeing your opt in page.

Something that positions you as the expert, the savior, the person/brand to trust.

This is what my new offer helps you do.

It's very different than anything I've every done before. And it does NOT involve a big investment on your part. In fact, it'll cost you less than one night at a Holiday Inn.

Hit reply and I'll tell you all about it,

Chavy
