A couple of weeks ago, I was at a specialist with my 13 year old son. It was our first time there.
There was a screen in the waiting room playing a Minions Despicable Me video. Now, [FIRST NAME GOES HERE], this probably only happened to us because in our house, there’s no TV and no YouTube, so we’re not used to this stuff.
But two minutes later, my son and I both burst into loud laughter, drawing the eyes of the entire waiting room.
That laughter was a visceral reaction. We couldn’t hold it back. It was a bit embarrassing.
That kind of reaction is the ultimate goal of marketing.
Because marketing that works best is marketing that makes you FEEL things deep inside you. Just knowing intellectually that you want or need something won’t make you trust the brand or believe that this is the right product for you.
But if the brand manages to touch your deep, inner feelings, you’ll automatically feel more connected to them, trust them more, and be more open to purchasing their offer.
For example, I created the branding and marketing materials for MelO Juvenile, a high end baby gear brand. My goal there was to stir the potential customers feelings of motherly love while also instilling a sense of peace.
Every word I used was carefully chosen to help achieve this goal.

Think about your own dream customers. What is the feeling you want to evoke in them? Now create a list of words that stir those emotions.
Then try to use these words in your marketing materials.
Watch and see the results.
What words did you come up with? I'd love to hear.
